USA is No Longer Respected Internationally.

It's bad enough to be a mess domestically, but we are no longer respected internationally.

Last night, on 9/11, the US Ambassador to Libya was brutally murdered by a mob of Libyans. I fear Obama will do nothing about it.  If I was the POTUS, I would cut off all aid and hunt down the killers within 48 hours.  I would then send a warning to other nations: "Never kill an American."

America needs to stop being pushed around.  In 50 words or less what do you think we should do about this horrific event?  How do we reestablish our credibility as a world leader?

I wish I had the answer. I do know this... America cannot afford another war.

I'm a home builder. I can tell you how to build a dormer. Don't ask me how to fix our problems overseas. Ask the people who we elect into office. If they don't have the answers then they deserve to be fired.

Iron fists and compassionate hearts never work. Cut off the money. It's so very simple. Cut off the money.

We are suffering at home but for some reason we continue to provide aid to other countries. Cut off the aid and start caring for our own. Once the World sees we are cared about #1 they will begin to respect the US. How can any Gov't demand respect from other nations when the same Gov't doesn't give respect to their own people? In terms of what to do about the murder of the Ambassador, the US must hunt down the killers immediately. Otherwise it will continue to happen time and time again.

First we need a real LEADER for our country. For this we will have to wait until January 21, 2013. Second, I agree with the previous post, cut off the $$$$. Foreign aid to places that hate us, shoot us, blow us up, etc. cannot be continued. Personally, I would like to see us leave the UN. Really, what have they done for us in the last, or 40 years? Third, shouldn't even need to be said: Support our allies, keep our enemies afraid of what we COULD do!

Keep our money at home and use it on our own people. Reward our friends punish our enemies. Like a past President said, "carry a big stick" and do not be afraid to use it.

Drill. Once we stop needing the oil we stop needing the enemy.

I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination on diplomatic protocol, but I believe we should cut those diplomatic ties and give the Lybian embassador in DC three days to leave the US.

People need to understand that Islamic extremists do not view the world in the same way we do as westerners. Their thought processes do not correspond with ours. We cannot "dialogue" with them. We cannot "negotiate" with them. They are intent on destroying our way of life and will not quit until the United States and capitalism are defeated. Until we all bow toward Mecca and accept Sharia law, they will continue to attack us. They only understand or respect us when we stand up for ourselves, either with military power or economic sanctions - or a combination of the two. Look how well our apologies and "detante" have served us - we have a dead ambassador.

I think we need to have a zero tolerance stance with countries/regimes that harm our own. I think that we should cut off ALL aid to Libya and counter their murderous actions with swift retaliation. Respect is earned, not purchased.

I would immediately pull the U.S. embassies from any country that had attacked us , then I would demand the U.N. step in and facilitate talks with the leaders of those countries, either in the U.S. or on a neutral soil. A war with those countries is absurd, the only way to win is to completely destroy them, so if they won't play nice, we don't play at all. And any foreign aid going to those countries should be stopped until their leaders assure us that those factions responsible for these acts of terror have been caught and dealt with.

As long as we have all this political correctness, all these apologists, all these appeasers, in government and in the media we will never gain the respect we once had. How can other people respect us, if we don't even respect ourselves. American citizens (mostly entertainers) go to foreign countries and bash their own country. And their fans, (lemmings, minions, tools) go right along with it. The media has been doing it for years, undermining almost everything they feel isn't "the way of the world". We (us, you, me) even get ridiculed for being patriotic or religious.
This will not change overnight. But I hope it will change for the better soon.

How does the POTUS explain to this man's wife why this happened? Events such of these are so very preventable. America is doomed. I think it will be Iran who eventually takes us down. When it happens, it too will be something that should and could have been preventable.

Many good thoughts here. Economic withdrawal from those nations that have attacked the US. Remove ALL military from those regions. Spend our money on our own people. We are NOT the world police. Period. A strong Navy, just in case they keep up the shenanigans. (I'm a Navy Vet)
No carpet bombing, they will destroy themselves, but we DO need to stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel.

There is so much we need to do to regain respect that it will take years to do. Other countries laugh at us all the antics that go on in the USA as our irrelevant Congress does nothing. So in short form: We stop all foreign aid and get our country in order, we replace almost everyone in Washington with non-establishment Conservatives, we pass a budget, we secure our borders, we eliminate the Dept. of Ed and the EPA (goes back to the states), we prosecute and execute terrorists (and shave their beards whether they want it or not), we manufacture what we need, we grow what we eat, we teach our children history and morals, and encourage our children to aspire to take care of themselves and do better than we did. The lunatics are running the asylum...it is time for some plain old common sense.

I agree with many of the things said previously, especially Dana the Navy Vet. Thanks Dana for your service! All our troops and monies need to come home NOW and only go to our TRUE allies, like Israel! Obama should ask his buddies, the Muslim Brotherhood he loves so much to turn over the slime that did the killing! Anyone in this country who is part of the radical Islam groups need to be rounded up and shipped to the Middle East where they'd be right at home! If the "peaceful" Muslims don't help bring them to justice, they're just as guilty! AND STOP APOLOGIZING FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!

I haven't seen Japan dicking with us in a long, long, long, long time...and I am a firm believer in striking back and striking so hard that it takes the enemy a century or more to recover. I do not believe we should be IN those countries trying to fascilitate their liberty and freedom. I believe they need to do it themselves...or fail to.
I do not believe any Muslim based country will EVER be amenable to peaceful co-existence with any culture or religion different than it's own Islamic nightmare. History says otherwise.
I do not think we should ever BE the agressor...unless we know for a fact...a country is going to attack us...however I do believe when a country kills someone who is a representative of the US...we MUST make sure the whole country regrets that action. Not just the person or persons responsible. I told my children when raising them...I expect respect...and I earn respect...however if you can't see your way clear to express that by your behavior...I will settle for fear.
Sometimes...I DID settle for fear...and they still tell of those times 20 years later. I consider that respect...LOL. Our country can demand no less.

No more funding, and bomb the heck out of them because they will not stop until we let them know who is in charge! We need to rid the white house of the biggest Muslim socialist/marxist, and then export him to Kenya, and/or try him for treason. He is not one of us, he does not respect the constitution, he does not respect the U.S.A. He's a phony and deceitful. His strings are pulled by Soros, another one that should be imprisoned. I have never worried more about our country than I do now. MAY GOD HELP US ALL!

A good first step would be to get our American backbone back! Stop apologizing for America and Americans and NEVER bow to the leader of another country.

Close the damn borders for God's sake. Hezbollah is digging the tunnels for the cartels & we don't know who the hell is in the US. Respect starts at home. Respect our own laws & enforce them. Get rid of illegals & imprison their employers. Stop schools from teaching disrespect for the country & its history. Yes, we were unfair to the natives and slaves, but that's Past. Get on with what we do right, not what we did wrong. Forget political correctness, it's one of the worst thing we do to ourselves. Get off oil & onto self sufficient clean energy, we have the technology for it now if we'd sell electric cars cheaply. Stand our ground against Muslims determined to institute the caliphate, the Koran advocates it is OK to lie (taquiya), make war (jihad) and enslave us (dimmitude) in order to attain world wide Islam as the only religion. Everyone let Hitler get a pass until it was too late and Muslims are now so full of themselves it is getting to that point. As far as Afghanistan, it's WAR, kill as many of the Taliban as can be found. They understand that the biggest bully rules the playground. There is no negotiation with them so we must draw a line and stand our ground because everything we have done, all the money spent will be torn down the second we leave.

Dennis, I know you are non-partisan, and I applaud you for that. But don't you think that maybe 2012 is the year you should exercise your responsibility as a citizen and VOTE? I talk to a lot of people who haven't decided how to vote yet, because they don't like either presidential candidate. I'm afraid that many of them may not vote at all, which, in my mind, is a vote for the status quo. I also see the need to reestablish our credibity as a world leader, but before that can happen, we need a president who can lead, and our current president is not the one willing or able to do that!
